Role profile

We are looking for a Knowledge Lawyer/Professional Support Lawyer to provide high quality knowledge support for our market-leading Funds team, part of the firm's Financial Institutions Group (FIG) and the broader Financial Services sector team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an experienced and well-respected Knowledge team, working in a supportive and collegiate environment. It would suit both someone who was looking to move to their first knowledge role as well as those with previous experience of professional support wanting a high-profile role which is central to many areas of the Firm's work. You would be stepping into an established Knowledge function and working alongside another FIG Knowledge Lawyer, as well as a wider Knowledge team.

We recognise the importance of flexibility, and flexible working arrangements are common across the Knowledge team and within the Practice Group. We are happy to discuss both formal working hours (full-time or part-time) and hybrid working arrangements for this opportunity.

The practice

Our Funds team has extensive experience in helping managers structure, launch, and manage funds across various structures and strategies. We guide managers through the entire lifecycle of an investment fund, from structuring and establishing management entities to designing optimal fund vehicle structures aligned with investment strategies.

We work with a wide range of funds, including private equity, real estate, venture capital, hedge funds, infrastructure, and natural resources. Additionally, we handle corporate work related to wealth management, family offices, and real estate sectors. Our team is among the largest in the UK, comprising leading partners with extensive industry experience. We advise UK-based and international funds on cross-border matters and have significant experience advising US investors on fund-related issues.

The opportunity

Knowledge is at the heart of Osborne Clarke's strategy, and you will be a key member of an innovative and purposeful Knowledge team. You will provide dynamic, technically excellent and business-focused support to the Funds team, implementing best practice professional support within a fast-growing part of our business.

You will work collaboratively with the existing FIG Knowledge Lawyer, the Funds Partners and other members of the Knowledge team as well as sales and marketing professionals and Partners in other parts of the firm. You will carry out your responsibilities with the support of your line manager - the Head of Business Transactions Group Knowledge - and dedicated paralegal, PA and training administration support.

Like all our people, you will benefit from our multi-award winning development programme so that you are well supported and developed in your role to build a career in Knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

As a Funds Knowledge Lawyer you will:

  • keep the Funds and wider team up-to-date on relevant legal and regulatory change across the team's practice, including producing reader-friendly internal updates on relevant developments;
  • deliver and facilitate engaging legal training and know-how sharing;
  • develop and maintain a technically excellent collection of template documents;
  • proactively evaluate and deploy AI tools and other technology relevant to Funds work and be an enthusiastic champion of technology to deliver client service;
  • driving a consistent client knowledge offering including insights, horizon-scanning, multi-jurisdictional overviews and client seminars, workshops and webinars as part of the team's overall business development activities;
  • address queries from lawyers and clients regarding current law and practice;
  • work collaboratively with the existing FIG Knowledge Lawyer; and
  • input into and helping to deliver the Funds team and Osborne Clarke Knowledge strategy.

Skills And Experience

You will have an excellent knowledge of law, regulation and practice in private funds, both domestic and international.

You will have an ability to present information clearly - both in writing and when speaking. You will be a pro-active self-starter with excellent organisational skills.

Due to the technical nature of the work, we are looking for someone who is legally-qualified with relevant post-graduate experience. You may be a fee-earning lawyer in private practice or working within the legal team of a business, in academia or in a knowledge role elsewhere, or returning to work after a career break.

If you are unsure whether your qualifications and experience are right for the role, please do contact us - we are always happy to have informal conversations with people who would like to join our team.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits. We value the health and wellbeing of our people and our wide range of initiatives and benefits support this.

We are committed to providing an environment where you can perform to the best of your abilities at every stage of your recruitment experience and beyond.
